Are you interested in experiencing first hand how art and cultural projects are organized and carried out within the independent art scene, and in actively supporting a young, artist-run initiative as well? Then we would be happy to welcome you to our team!

VCAS – Vienna Contemporary Art Space is a non-profit arts organisation based in Vienna, founded by artists for artists. Our mission is to create a space for contemporary, interdisciplinary and international art – a platform where experimental formats and new ideas are made visible and accessible. We focus on curating high-quality exhibitions with local and international artists, promoting emerging and underrepresented voices, and showcasing work in media such as installation, video, digital art, performance and hybrid formats. VCAS also hosts artist residencies, cultural events, and educational programs, all rooted in cross-cultural exchange and collaboration.

VCAS was founded in 2022, making us a relatively young organization that is still establishing itself within the local art scene in Vienna and beyond. Our team works on a voluntary basis, so we are always happy to welcome support. We’re open to you contributing your own ideas and setting your own focus within your tasks — depending on your strengths, interests, or areas where you\'d like to grow and challenge yourself.

Your tasks:

  • Assist with the planning and organization of exhibitions and events
  • Manage social media, PR and general communication (including the mail inbox)
  • Support the preparation of funding applications
  • Participate in the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions, and help to coordinate exhibition openings
  • Provide support with general administrative and operational tasks as needed

Your Profile:

  • Interest in art, cultural scene, collaborative work
  • Organizational skills and a structured approach to tasks
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Good English skills (most of our members are native English speakers and all team meetings are held in English)
  • Open-mindedness and willingness to contribute to an interdisciplinary and diverse environment
  • German language skills would be an advantage

We Offer:

  • Insights into the day-to-day operations of a small, independent art space
  • Direct collaboration with international artists
  • Hands-on experience in the planning and realization of exhibitions and projects
  • Opportunities to contribute your own ideas and engage creatively
  • Flexible working hours
  • A hybrid working model with both remote and in-office working hours
  • A close support structure to ensure that credits are recognised as part of a degree programme
